#2: Teach your baby to sign. Just because a child can't talk doesn't mean there isn't lots that she'd like to say. Simple signs can help you know what she needs and even how she feels well before she has the words to tell you-- a great way to reduce frustration.
This has been a good one for us! When Ryan was really little, I would sign "more" to him all the time... and he just looked at me like I had 3 heads. But one day, he figured it out... and he would say "more" to everything! He became a little sponge for these signs, and now he uses "more", "please", "thank you", and "love" daily. I know that there are kids out there with more signs, but these few words have made our daily lives much easier, and he loves being able to use them! He will point at something he wants and say "Please". He can ask for more and hand me his cup. It really does reduce frustration!
Did you use signing? What are some things that your child loved to sign? Any suggestions for other parents? Share!!

I loved watching Signing Times on PBS with my boys. It was a fun way for all of us to learn new signs.
Alex had 50+ signs... Nate never really liked signing because he LOVES to talk!
Aidan loves signing. His most used are "more", "all done", "please", and "thank you". It does make life easier! He knows that he has to say "all done down please" to be excused from the dinner table. It's a great way to teach them manners at a young age! And it really opens the doors of communication for them- it helped Aidan learn to talk a lot faster than other kids his age.
He isn't so interested now in learning new signs (which is frustrating for me because I wanted him to be as close to fluent as possible), but his speaking vocabulary is amazing, and I credit signing with that.
